Surface water flooding

Surface water flooding occurs when the level of precipitation exceeds the capacity of the stormwater system. During high rainfall events the rain may pond in low lying areas where the stormwater system has reached capacity.

Use a WaReg to regulate the water flooding

Using a WaReg for flow regulation can help by ensuring the stormwater system doesn't reach its overload point and therefore surrounding areas are saved from flooding. Attenuation is required for the excess water, and by regulating the flow out of the attenuation tank, a stable and optimized flow can be achieved in the stormwater system.

Water flooding when river and lake levels rise

Surface water flooding can also occur when river or lake levels rise to the point where the stormwater outfall becomes inundated with backflow from the river or lake. When this occurs the backflow can cause flooding in low lying areas in a dry sunny day, and cause extensive flooding on days when it is raining. If the outfall pipes are subject to backflow their storage capacity is eliminated during rainy days causing the rain water to pond and potentially flood surrounding areas, homes, sports grounds and other assets.

The WaStop can stop the backflow of coastal and water flooding

Using a WaStop in the outfall effectively stops backflow into the stormwater outfall pipes, which thereby maintains the storage capacity of the stormwater system during high lake or river levels. This stops ponding and surface water flooding.
